Pelvic Rehabilitation and Wellness Center

Frequently Asked Questions

Pelvic floor therapy focuses on how the pelvic floor works with the rest of the body. The pelvic floor plays a role in bladder and bowel control, pelvic support, sexual function, breathing, posture, and core stability. Effective care looks beyond the pelvic floor alone and addresses coordination, pressure management, movement patterns, and nervous system involvement that contribute to symptoms.

Care is individualized and based on your evaluation findings, goals, and response to treatment. Pelvic floor physical therapy remains the foundation of care. When appropriate, other clinicians or treatment options may be incorporated to address additional factors affecting your progress.

Treatment is personalized and evolves over the length of care. Sessions may include hands-on treatment, targeted exercise, movement retraining, breathing and pressure management strategies, and education.

Care follows a clear path so each session builds on the previous one and supports progress that is measurable over time. Care is never rushed or standardized, and treatment decisions are adjusted based on how your body responds over time.

We provide pelvic health care for men, women, and athletes across a wide range of ages and activity levels.

Yes. Pelvic health issues are very common among athletes. Pelvic health plays an important role in performance, control, endurance, and injury prevention. We work with runners, dancers, and other active individuals to address symptoms that are holding them back from certain movements.

Care is delivered outside of the limitations that insurance dictates. This allows treatment decisions to be based on clinical need rather than predetermined visit caps. Documentation can be provided for those who wish to pursue out-of-network reimbursement independently.

No, we are unable to accept patients with Medicare coverage. This is due to Medicare regulations, not a choice on our part. Medicare requires that any services it covers be provided by a Medicare-approved provider, so patients with Medicare coverage must see a provider who accepts Medicare for those services. If you have questions about how this works or want to explore your options, give us a call at (732)-466-7750.

Care begins with a comprehensive pelvic health evaluation. Based on clinical findings, we identify the appropriate program framework and the key areas of focus within it.

Programs follow a defined structure with guided timelines. Care is targeted, integrated, and adjusted as your body responds. We utilize specialists of multiple disciplines based on what your body needs. This includes pelvic health physical and occupational therapists, working along side our registered dietitian, personal trainer, and massage therapist to address your symptoms with a whole-body approach. The goal is meaningful progress with lasting results to get you back to living life without worrying about your symptoms.

Care is delivered through structured programs with guided timelines, typically we see patients for 8-16 weeks.

Some individuals benefit from shorter, more focused programs, while others require longer timelines due to factors such as how long symptoms have been persisting, coordination challenges, tissue sensitivity, nervous system involvement, or complexity of presentation. Program placement is determined after your evaluation and based on clinical need.

Yes. All care is delivered one on one with a pelvic health specialist.

No. An internal exam is not required for every patient. If it is clinically appropriate, it will be discussed in advance and consent is obtained. You remain in control every step of the way.

Yes. Pelvic health does not exist in isolation. Many individuals also experience back, hip, or core issues that are influenced by pelvic dysfunction. Addressing these contributing factors is often an important part of care.

Yes. We work with individuals during pregnancy and after delivery to address pain, pelvic pressure, bladder or bowel concerns, core changes, and return-to-activity goals.

Many people come to us after trying pelvic floor therapy elsewhere and still having questions or symptoms. We begin with a new evaluation rather than assuming why previous treatment did not work. We look at your current symptoms, pelvic floor function, movement, daily habits, medical history, and other relevant factors. Pelvic floor physical therapy remains the foundation of treatment. When appropriate, additional expertise such as occupational therapy, nutrition guidance, massage therapy, or individualized exercise may also be incorporated into your plan.

Your first step is a private pelvic health evaluation. We review your symptoms and goals, assess the areas that may be contributing, explain what we find, and discuss whether pelvic floor therapy is appropriate for you. From there, we create a treatment plan based on your individual needs.
